The study of mechanisms of structure formation and destruction (thermal and
mechanical) of thin polymer films (homopolymers, copolymers, cross-linked
systems, blends, polymer/fullerene compositions) with an emphasis on the
structure/mechanical (particularly tribological) relationships. The
characterization methods used in the study involve temperature programmed
mass-spectrometry (TPMS), ESCA, TPMS/ESCA combination in a single experimental
set with self-made vacuum mechanical manipulators and a number of complementary
methods: AFM, SEM, WAXD, PL.
