Conference Details

The Disability Affairs Cabinet at the University of Florida will be hosting this conference on April 7 of 2005 and we want you and/or your organization to participate! Our desire with this conference is to do more than explore the issues that most of us are already aware of, but instead to create constructive solutions to the social problems facing disabled people today.

The conference will feature a day of panel discussions with scholars, student leaders, administrators, organization members, service providers, and progressive disabled voices. On April 7 we will be discussing social problems facing disabled people and their solutions including: disability and sexuality/body image, higher education, and the representation of disability in mass media and the arts.

At 7pm on April 7 the keynote addresses will be delivered by Dr. Mitch Tepper, Bridget Powerz, Greg Smith, Sunny Taylor, and Tyler Deith. We will be opening a discourse on the topic of sexuality, art and perception. We will attempt to breakdownthe pervasive negative assumption that disabled people are asexual and challenge the social epidemic of fearing the failure to conform to "normal" notions of beauty.

Let's Build a Movement Together!
