What is FES

The Florida Engineering Society is the only society which represents licensed professional engineers in the State of Florida. FES represents all disciplines of engineering, and works to strengthen the engineering professi-on by promoting engineering licensure and ethics, advocating and protecting the professional engineer's legal rights at the state level, and providing continuing education programs to the practicing engineer.

Founded in 1966, the University of Florida Student Chapter seeks to foster unity among the various engineering disciplines and strives to meet the needs of all engineering students. The Chapter has provided an increasing number of services and activities to its members.

This includes our initiative to bring students to all types of engineering work environments in all different engineering fields. We are the only UF engineering organization that does this. We also work closely with the College of Engineering in many of the College's outreach programs and put on many of our own programs, such as our Mystery Design Competition, PE Review Course, and FES Golf Tournament.

After graduation, FES continues to play a major role in the lives of practicing engineers. Besides providing a means of contact with one's peers, FES offers numerous opportunities for business contacts. More importantly, as a subsidiary of the National Society of Professional Engineers, FES has not just a state but a national influence.

All engineering students are invited to become members of FES and participate in society activities. The FES office is located in 280 Weil Hall, and membership applications can be found right outside the door or on our membership page.
