Membership

Qualified students are invited in October to the induction ceremony each November. A one-time fee is required to join; no additional fees are requested, as the chapter is funded by the national organization.

Membership Requirements

- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale
- Minimum of 30 Completed Semester Hours
- Enrollment at an Accredited College or University
- Verification of Academic Standing

Undergraduate students constitute the vast majority of the DEI membership base, but many graduate students get involved as well to serve as mentors to our undergraduate members.

Active Membership

Active members receive numerous benefits and leadership opportunities including being eligible to vote in elections, run for officer positions, and receiving free cords for graduation. Active members:
- Attend at least four meetings a year
- Attend at least two events a year
- Attend at least one social a year

Active members are also encouraged to run as a University of Florida chapter officer.

Scholarship Program

Since its inception, the Society has awarded member scholarships at both the national and local levels. The current program is designed to recognize academic achievement, campus leadership, extra-curricular activities, and community service. Those members affiliated with active chapters enjoy the formal presentation of these awards at their chapter's annual New Member Reception.

Graduates & Postgraduates

Graduate students were first invited to join the Society in 2002 at the University of Michigan chapter. Many graduate students expressed an interest to get involved and help mentor the undergraduate members with the experience they had gained in their previous careers.
