TERM PAPER TOPICS

Your term paper topics are due Tuesday, Sep 15, at 12:00pm noon
Before submitting a topic, read the Term Paper
Guide to know what
your paper must cover. Your topic should fulfill the following:
- Controversial--There must be two sides to your topic question
- Researchable--You must have concrete research to support each side
- Non-obvious--Your topic question must not have an obvious answer (For example: a topic
like "Are computers good for businesses?" to which nearly all people would say yes).
- Specific--Don't say something like "Are computers good?"; be more specific good for
what?
- Your Topic should be a question, not an answer.
- Current--Something that affects society today and tomorrow.
- Computer related--Your topic should relate directly to computers and computers should be
somehow a central part of your topic (If you deal with an issue such as censorship that
exists outside of computers then your paper must deal only with the effects on/by computers)
The purpose of submitting a topic is so that we can make sure that you have a topic that
can lead to a good paper. We don't want you to waste time on a topic that can't do well.
From past students we have learned some topics for which research is scarce. Also,
sometimes this process will make sure that you really do know what you want to write about.
If you are having problems deciding on a topic come talk to us.
If you are having problems researching your paper you can change topics.
