Beast Feast

Our annual wild game dinner is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Each year club members collect meat donations from friends, family, and the community and prepare exotic dishes for an all-you-can-eat buffet. Beast Feast is always the last weekend in February and is held at the UF Horse Teaching Unit. If you know any hunters or fishermen that would like to donate, let us know! We also look for door prizes and raffle donations from local businesses, such as fishing rods and camping equipment.

Millhopper Road Clean-up

One day every year The Wildlife Society pick ups garbage along our adopted road to keep it clean. After a few hours of hard work the group goes out for lunch. It's more fun than you think!

FWC Hunter Check Stations

Club members each hunting season are encouraged to help out the FWC at local hunter check stations. The FWC conducts game measurements and checks deer for Chronic Wasting Disease. This year the club took a trip to the Caravelle Wildlife Management Area and learned how to age deer jaw bones. Volunteering at a check station is a great way to gain knowledge and skills, and will look great on a resume! See http://www.myfwc.com/RECREATION/WMASites_index.htm to look up other WMAs you could volunteer at.

Buck-Off

In the fall our club puts together a team of girls to participate in a bull-riding competition sponsored by the Agriculture Fraternity, Alpha Gamma Rho. All proceeds from the night go to the Winn Dixie Hope Lodge, which provides housing for outpatients undergoing cancer treatment. For the past fourteen years, Buck-Off has helped assist the Hope Lodge with their much-needed donations.

Lubee Bat Fest

The Lubee Bat Conservancy is an international non-profit organization dedicated to protecting biological diversity though conservation of fruit bats. They are only open to the public during the annual Lubee Bat Fest in October, where people can visit the bats, check out display tables from local environmental groups, and participate in games and arts & crafts events. The Wildlife Society participates in tabling and welcomes volunteers to come out for the day and get the word out about our club and what we do.

Florida Caverns State Park Trip

This year the club took a weekend camping trip to the FL Caverns in Marianna, Florida. They spent the day hiking in the park and exploring one of Florida's few dry caves.
