pachytene karyotypes. Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 58:245-257.
Abstract
A wide range of Sorghum bicolor germplasm was studied, including
wild, weedy and cultivated types, several of which were from
remote regions of Africa. Most of the collections proved unsuitable
for pachytene chromosome measurements. Of those which were
satisfactory, exhaustive studies could not establish any complete
caryotypes. Of the ten chromosome pairs and five shorter pairs,
however, one nucleolar pair and one asymmetric pair were distinguished.
A group of three relatively long pairs and five shorter pairs
were recognized but finer distinctions were not established.
