Landscape and Turfgrass
Management ORH 4236C Catalog Statement: ORH 4236C Landscape and Turfgrass Management. Credits: 3; Prereq: ORH 3513C. Principles and practices of landscape installation and management, including arboriculture. Students will survey the landscape industry, study landscape contracting procedures and interior plantscape maintenance. Laboratories will provide practical experience in various installation and maintenance practices and field trips will provide interaction with industry. Students enrolling in this class will be expected to attend Saturday field trips. Course Objectives: Students who successfully complete this course will have a thorough understanding of the interrelated aspects of turfgrass, shrub and tree quality and selection, landscape installation and landscape management. Laboratory exercises and field trips will provide hands-on experiences in various landscape management practices. Course Format: Two 50 minute lecture and discussion sessions and two 50 minute laboratory and field exercise sessions will be offered weekly. Certain laboratory and field exercise sessions will be conducted on Saturdays. When sessions are to be conducted on Saturdays, the normally scheduled weekly class session will be either shortened or cancelled.
