Final Exam

PART IV (BONUS)

AGR 3303 - Genetics

Essay. The Human Genome Project attempts to determine the location and molecular sequences of all the genes and interconnecting segments of the human chromosomes. It is hoped that this international project will lead to ultimate control of human disease, aging, and death. Explain how this knowledge could be useful in achieving those stated goals, demonstrating your knowledge of how genes work, and using genetic terminology. To streamline the discussion, it may help if you pick on a single gene, real or imaginary, which is hypothetically related to a human disease. Make sure to point out obstacles to controlling the disease, especially biological obstacles related to genetic knowledge. Make sure to point out practical uses of knowing the gene, even those which fall short of "ultimate control".
