Tri-Gators Meeting 10/11/01

 

1.       If you have not turned in a waiver you need to do so

2.      We need everyone on the roster for Sports clubs and also for Bike Route discounts: this is for your own help!!! – saves you  $$$  at the store

3.      Workouts:

3.1.    Mondays 8pm track

3.2.   Tuesdays cycling 4:45pm at Rock (Turlington plaza): plan for time change after 10/28 (time change date)

3.3.   Wednesdays 6pm law school run: time change to 5pm after 10/28

3.4.   Thursdays 9:15pm spinning at Orion, meetings alt weeks at 8pm

3.5.   Fridays 5pm swimming in FL Pool: 10/12 will have guest coach Dann Kerr

3.6.   Saturdays no official workouts scheduled

3.7.   Sundays 9-11am swimming in FL Pool

3.8.1.       Practices: MWF 5-6am, M-F 11:30-1, M-R 7:30-9pm, see page for info and fees.

3.8.2.      Free swim O’Connel ctr 11-1:45 and 7-9:45pm? weekdays

3.9.   Cycling: Team FL:  http://grove.ufl.edu/~cycling   has daily rides: MWF 4:30pm at Rock, weekend rides with GCC groups

4.      Races Reports:

4.1.    10/06: Gainesville Biathlon event #6: Umm, Felipe won, the race and the series. Jim (our coach) was second apparently, and Seabitch third – I think…

4.2.   10/07: Battle of the Bridges in Melbourne: results have been sent out already by Seabitch. We brought a team of 10 down to the race, swept the 20-24 age group and had the race winner in Mark Williamson. Congrats to all the first-time racers that competed!

5.      Races Upcoming

5.1.    10/13            Micanopy Half Marathon and 5k: 8am, Micanopy FL. http://www.floridatrackclub.org

5.2.   10/20           Great Floridian Ironman: we traditionally man a running aid station, that lasts from early afternoon (~1-2pm) through latenight (midnight?). Location is Clermont FL, about 90mins south on the turnpike. We need all the volunteers we can get, and a good theme, because there’s a $1000 prize for best aid station. 5.3.    10/27            Ti Man triathlon ˝ / 20 / 4 ?? Sprint+ distance at Camp Blanding <1 hr. School covers costs (eventually).   Race is confirmed but site may be moved to a backup closer to Gainesville. THIS IS ONE OF OUR FEATURE RACES – THE CLUB WILL REIMBURSE ENTRIES (for qualified members = students that pay student activity fees). Enter yourself please and notify Michele that you will be racing and have entered – at our next meeting we will generate a team roster of racers. If you do not let us know that you are racing you cannot be reimbursed because we will not know to do the paperwork for you! Entries available online at www.donsport.com

5.4.   11/2              Gator Gallop: Bandits anyone?

6.      Sponsor Shop = Bike Route

6.1.    Some bikes are here: get yours if its here and get riding!

6.2.   Mike scored deals on stuff at interbike – details to follow.

6.3.   Parts and labour discount: 20% (and more sometimes!!)

6.4.   Some girls uniforms may be left at Bike Route. Mens are gone.
