Hey TriGators!

Just a few words about last night’s pre-race meeting. I promise it won’t be as long as the first meeting minutes.
If you could not make it, this is basically how this weekend is planned:

1.        We will carpool to Sand Key  Clearwater. Each one of you has been assigned a car (will be mentioned in another e-mail). There is no set time for you to leave Gainesville, but I would recommend you leave in the late morning  early afternoon since you have a 2h30min drive to go through. This will give you time to get on the race course, get your packet and loosen up by going for a short and easy bike ride and/or short and easy run, to familiarize yourself with the course.

2.        As soon as you arrive in Clearwater, stop by the race site and get your race packet.

3.
We will spend Saturdays night in a hotel, Comfort Suites (1941 Edgewater Dr,  Clearwater, FL, US, 33755. Phone: (727) 489-5000.

We won’t be getting back to our hotel rooms after the race, so make sure you are ready to checkout in the morning, when we leave for the race.

Each room has been assigned a key getter.   Make sure you have the phone number of this person (cf. Eric Dingler’s e-mail. He is the event manager). The key getter will stay in the room the entire Saturday’s night (yes, no Saturday night fever before a race).

4.        We will tell you when to leave the room Sunday morning to get to the race. BUT you will have to get up early and BE RESPONSIBLE. We won’t baby-sit during the weekend. You will have to take your own responsibilities. However, we are present to answer any of your questions.

5.        Have fun racing! And kick butts (not literally though)!

6.        After the race, please remember to sign the post-travel form to get reimbursed by UF RecSport.

Also, during this meeting we mention the upcoming race, Health First Triathlon. Please note that ONLY THE OLYMPIC DISTANCE RACE WILL BE REIMBURSED. We will not reimburse the Sprint race.
The reason is that at the beginning of the year, the officers elected the races that the group will do. For monetary reasons, we need to stick to the decision we took in the first place, even if it breaks our hearts to restrict the size of the group. Also, if it's your first year racing triathlons, you may not consider doing this Health First Olympic Triathlon. The distances are twice as long as a sprint format, and other racing factors have to be taken into consideration, i.e. nutrition and the training specificities.
But Longleaf Sprint Triathlon is coming next (Oct. 21st) and is open to every TriGators.

If you want to sign for the Health First Triathlon, please make sure that you register under the Collegiate Category, mentioning University of Florida when your university’s name is requested. Do it before Sept. 27th.

Hope you have a great and a fabulous weekend! In the meantime, see you all at swim practice!

Take care,

jen
