Hey TriGators!

For those of you who couldn’t make it tonight, we had our pre-race meeting for Health First Triathlon.

Over the weekend, we are going to stay at Elly’s houses (one is on the beach and the other is by the intercostals). We are going to split the group evenly, based on who drove with to get to Cocoa Beach. No worries though, we will all spent the evening and dinner together on Saturday and hang out after Sunday’s race, if you want.

We will all meet on Saturday at Elly’s Beach House address is 3200 N. Atlantic Ave.  Cocoa Beach, FL - 32931

We will pick up the race packets on Saturday. You can find directions on the following link: http://www.healthfirsttri.com/index.asp?bhcp=1.

We will also e-mail you with the carpools and stays ASAP.

We also went through some tips that may be useful for a smooth race:
-        Pace yourself on the race, do not start all out on the swim. It may be a little bit hard because of the wind, so be mentally prepared to any types of weather. Just in case
-        Be careful with your nutrition. Make sure you are going to have enough Gatorade on the bike. Bring gels (liquid and sticky type of high energy pastes) that you will use on the bike and the run.
-        Make sure you eat carbs and preferably white meat (chicken or turkey) the day before the race. Also DRINK enough fluids. You do not want to be dehydrated.
-        Bring a hat for the run. It is usually hot and sunny.
In any cases, if you do not feel well, aid stations and lifeguards (obviously on the swim :p) are present all over the course.

Remember to bring your receipts if you have not submitted yours to one of the officers. They are needed by Sunday if you want to be reimbursed.

During the meeting we also mentioned the opening of a Sport Club Council position. SCC is a great way to get involved for your team. You basically represent the club at the council, go over travel forms and special requests, decide on the budget each club will get every year. It is really important for the TriGators to have a voice there, since we are one of the biggest team and since we need a decent budget too :). It will only take you five meetings and two hours each to represent us.
Please e-mail me if you have any questions and/or are interested in the position :)

Finally, if you consider racing Longleaf Triathlon, you may be able to register now. Don’t forget to sign up the travel form and print the race receipt and give it to an officer.

Thank you all for your time :) !!
Have a wonderful end of week (hopefully the weather will be better for this weekend)

Take care! Go Gators!
