First off, a big thanks to all the volunteers at theTriGator Sprint! Thanks to you the race was a big success. Things ran prettysmoothly and we were able to raise some money for the club (and those results should be getting finalized sooner or later). More importantly weintroduced a bunch of folks to the sport of triathlon.

We had another speaker join us this evening, Alan Biggs whospecializes in active release therapy for athletes. He has a lot of experiencein competing as and working on endurance athletes. The active release techniquecombines massaging, stretching, and specific movements to treat the root causeof the injury. Matt Greene and Big Phil were the lucky volunteers and we allhad the pleasure of watching them twisted into pretzels. I think I might havespotted a tear of joy or two. According to Alan, 90% of injuries are caused byoveruse, and the remaining 10% come from a lack of flexibility. He alsoemphasized the importance of hydration. Too much information was presented totranscribe here, but those of us lucky enough to attend the meeting left alittle more knowledgeable about endurance sports and treatment. A big thanks toAlan for sharing with us.

As most of you know, Collegiate Nationals is coming up onthe 21st of April and we have a big group of folks driving up to Alabama to represent the University of Florida. We’ll be sending out an email to those people this week with more details aboutthe race itinerary. One this we do need though is TENTS, preferably with 4+ capacity. So if you’ve got one you canlend, please let one of the officers know.

That’s all for now, good luck training!
