CITING TO ONLINE JOURNAL ARTICLES

For Volumes 1-5, the Journal of Technology Law & Policy adopted the American Association of Law Libraries ("AALL") Universal Citation System. Following the AALL's guidelines for a medium neutral paragraph numbering system, all Journal articles are assigned a consecutive article number. The article number identifies the article in a citation. For example:
  • The second article in Volume 1 of the Journal is to be cited as 1 J. TECH. L. & POL'Y 2 at http://grove.ufl.edu/~techlaw/vol1/sobel.html.
  • The Foreword to Volume 3, Issue 2 of the Journal is to be cited as 3(2) J. TECH. L. & POL'Y 0 at http://grove.ufl.edu/~techlaw/vol3/issue2/foreword.html.
  • The Bluebook also addresses this situation in Rule 18.2.6(b).

Within each article, every paragraph is numbered at the beginning of the paragraph. Cite a particular paragraph by the abbreviation para. and the paragraph number. For example:
  • The third paragraph in the first example would be cited as 1 J. TECH. L. & POL'Y 2, para. 3.
  • For more information, see Bluebook Rule 3.4.

Citations to Journal articles appearing in the 6th Volume or later should be cited as they are in print (See Bluebook Rule 16).
