Member Benefits

Being a member of Tau Beta Pi entitles you to some benefits that you should take advantage of.

Member Status

Please refer to the requirements below to determine your status as a member in Tau Beta Pi. As of Fall 2005, Tau Beta Pi voted to no longer provide graduation stoles for non-active members. It is the member's responsibility to make sure status and records are up to date.

I. Inactive

Must arrange purchase of stole from headquarters.

Active and Distinguished Active status will be determined according to a point system. Points will be awarded as follows:

  • One point will be awarded per meeting.
  • One point will be awarded per social
  • One point will be awarded per service hour, up to 2 points awarded per service project.

II. Active

  • $20 to rent stole, with $10 refunded
  • 5 points total
    • At least one point for meeting attendance
    • At least one point for service
  • One drop semester unless TBP member for less than 3 semesters

III. Distinguished Active

  • Free stole for graduation
  • 10 points total
    • At least three points for service
    • Attendance at initiation
  • One drop semester unless TBP member for 2 or less semesters

NOTE: If you do not qualify for active status and still wish to get a stole for graduation, you can order it directly from Nationals. Order Stole for $20.
