FAQ

For Electees

Required Meetings

Q. What do I do if I can't make a meeting?
A. Attendance at meetings is required. Contact the VPs of Electees to find out how to make up for it. Check out the agendas on the meeting page to find out what you missed.

Q. What if I do not/cannot make it to Initiation?
A. Initiation is mandatory for TBP membership. If you are unable to make it to Initiation, but have fulfilled all other requirements, you may be inducted in the following semester.

Q. What do I do if I am an electee in the Spring semester and cannot make it to SECME?
A. SECME is our mandatory large project for Spring electees. If you cannot make it due to a legitimate reason, contact the VPs of Electees and work things out with them.

Long-distance

Q. I am doing a co-op, and I am not a FEEDs student. I am eligible for TBP this semester. How do I fulfill my requirements?
A. If you are out of town, it will be difficult to fulfill the requirements from afar. Since the co-op credit will not affect your GPA, you will probably still be eligible in the following semester, and we recommend you wait until then to try to join TBP.

Q. I am a FEEDS student living outside Gainesville. How can I join?
A. If you live within reasonable driving distance (ca. 2-3 hours), you are required to

  • attend an E-Futures session (weekend TBA).
  • if possible, participate in SECME, a math and science olympiad for K-12 students (only in Spring, date TBA).
If you live more than three hours from Gainesville:
  • try to participate in an E-Futures session at a college near you.
In both cases, you must be able to attend initiation.

Eligibility

Q. I am a graduate student and I am not in an engineering major, nor was I in engineering as an undergraduate. Am I eligible?
A. No. Graduate students who meet the GPA requirements can be eligible one of two ways. Graduate students who are currently in engineering fields are eligible. Non-engineering graduate students with an undergraduate degree in an engineering field are eligible, and will be inducted as alumni.

Miscellaneous

Q. I do not wish to join TBP this semester but I have paid my dues. Can I get a refund?
A. The dues go toward paying for various service projects and socials that we have during the semester. Hence, we cannot refund the total in the middle of the semester. However, if you let us know early enough, we can refund you the national fees and the banquet fees, since we will not have paid them on your behalf.
