About Towers Area Government for Residents - Getting Involved

About TAG - Getting Involved

If you would like to get more involved in and around campus, we would like to suggest some areas where you may serve. First off, TAG can always use your help. Next, subscribe to the The Gator Times via the instructions on the bottom-right part of the website. This weekly newsletter offers students a few involvement opportunities in each distribution. If you would like to serve all of campus housing, or if you join us in an executive position, you may serve as a member or member-at-large in the Inter-Residence Hall Association. For the campus-at-large, and specific aspects of it, the Student Government offers the student senate, cabinet, and even a judicial branch which you may enjoy. For larger, off-campus political involvement, The City of Gainesville can also offer unique opportunities, as with the the State of Florida (though most opportunities are in Tallahassee near Florida State University). Or, once 18 years old, you can register to vote in Gainesville to participate in even local elections. If you are 17, you can pre-register to vote at all elections in the area in which you are pre-registered for once you turn 18. Voter Registration cards are available at all post offices, the student government office in the Reitz Union, and probably even your area desk or commons.

If you would like to contact your state legislators, visit the Florida Senate webpage and use the box on the bottom left, and visit the Florida House of Representatives - Representatives page to find your representatives at the state level.

To find out and contact those in the United States Legislature who represent you, visit the U.S. Senate: Senator Search website, and use the zip code search box at the top of the U.S. House of Representatives website.
