Modern Literature Lecture Project
The MLLP is a new project developed to introduce musicians and younger students to modern music (preferably that from 1945 and later). The project is still under development, but has already began to take shape. We have lectured succesfully in the low brass studio and have instilled interest in the organ/carillon, flute, saxophone, and vocal studios.
Many plans are still under development for this project, but there stem three categories of outreach:
- Studio Teaching: This involves lecturing in studio classes at UF. One studio hour would be used to listen to sound clips, look at scores, and discuss extended techniques.
- Theory/General Class Lecture: This plan of action would require an hour of a general lecture during a theory, styles, or history class in order to discuss electroacoustic music (or modern music if so needed).
- Public Schools: While we still need to develop age-specific goals, the purpose of lecturing to area schools would be to increase awareness of certain types of modern music, mainly avant-garde and electroacoustic musics.
