As a PSO member, the volunteer is expected to uphold
the dignity of the organization while in the clinical setting by showing
the utmost respect for the professionals for whom he/she is working. Through
an extensive orientation conducted by the PSO board of directors, the
new members are advised on such issues as appearance, demeanor, and professional
courtesy in the work place.
In order to maintain "active" status in PSO, the member must meet the following criteria. Because PSO is a service organization, all members must participate in various service activities throughout the community. We feel this service reflects that person's desire to help those in need. Also, the member must participate in PSO social activities offered during the semester in an effort to improve his or her communication and social skills as well as person to person interaction. In addition, all members must volunteer a minimum of thirty hours per semester in his/her volunteer endeavors. |
