PreVet Club 2007-2008 Officers

Listed below are the 2007-2008 PreVet Club officers; feel free to contact them for information about their position or the club in general. All officers must attend all PreVet Club general meetings (except for one "free-bee"), all officer meetings, and at least half of the PreVet Club events in addition to their regular duties.

President

Position: President Name: Erin McGill Contact: erinem@ufl.edu   Officer Duties: To preside over all meetings, delegate responsibilities, complete/return all university required material, arrange meeting locations and times prior to each semester, and communicate with officers on a regular basis about club activities and officer duties. Additionally, to schedule speakers for meetings, with recommendations from officers.

Vice President
	Position: Vice President Name: Lauren Gray Contact: lkgray@ufl.edu   Officer Duties: To monitor and plan club activities, communicate club plans to members, and communicate with the American Pre-veterinary Medical Association. Additionally, in the president's absence, to perform and exercise the Presidential duties.

Secretary

Position: Secretary Name: Kathleen Colby Contact: Kate04@ufl.edu   Officer Duties: To record minutes of all meetings and forward this information to the Internet Chair within a week for publishing on the website. To send out meeting reminders to members, update and distribute the semester newsletter, make sure attendees to the PreVet Club meetings sign-in at the door, maintain room at the vet school, and hold on to club graphics.

Treasurer
	Position: Treasurer Name: Ben Carter Contact: bjc@ufl.edu   Officer Duties: To collect dues and money for club projects, maintain detailed financial records, and collect money for club products. To organize at least one fundraiser per semester. To sign checks and have them cosigned by the president or vice-president.

Parliamentarian
	Position: Parliamentarian Name: Corey Regnerus Contact: gatorsvt@ufl.edu   Officer Duties: To ensure that proper parliamentary procedure is being used to conduct business, and to oversee nominations and elections. To be responsible for opening general meetings and controlling noise levels at those meetings.

Public Relations Director
	Position: Public Relations Director Name: Eric VanEerde Contact: bakaduin@ufl.edu   Officer Duties: To ensure that flyers are made available for distribution one week prior to general meetings and banquets, keep the cabinet up to date, and make sure fliers are posted around campus.

Historians
Katie Batten	Position: Historian Name: Carla Bernal Contact: kiwi618@ufl.edu   Name: Katie Batten Contact: gator593@ufl.edu   Officer Duties: To take pictures at each club event and keep an updated chronological photo album of these events, maintain the club's display backboard, and organize a slide show for the Spring Banquet.

Education Chairperson
	Position: Education Chairperson Name: Megan Manzie Contact: pvceduchair@gmail.com   Officer Duties: To accumulate and circulate tests from and to all members enrolled in pre-vet courses. The test bank must be kept up to date within a five-year time span.

Pet Project Coordinators
Jena Newsom Jenna Rooks	Position: Pet Project Coordinator Name: Jena Newsom Contact: brooks15@ufl.edu   Name: Jenna Rooks Contact: jrooks22@ufl.edu     Officer Duties: To plan and organize the club's annual Pet Project, set up a committee (if necessary) to contribute to the Pet Project, solicit funds to support the project, have the Pet Project completed for distribution before spring break.

Social Director
	Position: Social Director Name: Diana Drogan Contact: ufbabe03@ufl.edu Officer Duties: To plan a Fall and Spring Banquet at the end of each semester (must contact the treasurer for a budget for the banquets and present the menu to officers at officer meetings). To be responsible for snacks, drinks and paper supplies for general meetings and banquets.

Student Agricultural and Life Sciences Council Representatives

Internet Chair
	Position: Internet Chair Name: Brianna Shaver Contact: splashie@ufl.edu   Officer Duties: To maintain an up-to-date web page highlighting club activities and meeting information.

Becoming an Officer

If you desire to run for office, you will either need to be nominated or to nominate yourself at either the fourth or third-to-last meeting of the spring semester. Nominations will then be closed. Election of new officers from the candidate pool will occur by majority vote by active members at the second-to-last meeting of the spring semester. If any open positions still exist (e.g. if no one ran to fill the position of "Internet Chair"), they will be opened for nominations and elections at the end of the second-to-last spring semester meeting.

As a candidate, you must fill out an application upon nomination, read and sign a copy of the constitution, and be present at the elections meeting unless extenuating circumstances prevent you from doing so. If you choose to give a speech before elections take place, you must limit it to two minutes.

A few additional rules:

• The President and Vice-President candidates must have held previous leadership positions in the Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club.
• Officers may only hold one position, unless there are no nominations for a particular office at the date and time of elections.
• Each officer’s term shall run for one calendar year, beginning at the last meeting of the spring semester.
• No person shall serve two consecutive terms in the same office of the club.

As a tradition, the new officers and old officers communicate and share material, ideas, etc. at the Spring Banquet.

Once an officer, these are some requirements you must meet:

1. All descriptions under your office elected (see Constitution)
2. You must be enrolled for 12 credits in both the Fall and Spring semesters
3. You must attend 1/2 of the club activities per semester
4. You must attend ALL officer meetings
5. You must attend ALL club meetings except for one which is considered a free-bee
