Eligibility
In order to be eligible, a University of Florida freshman student must possess a cumulative GPA
of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale after either the first or second semester. The number of credit
hours earned must also be adequate to receive a Bachelor's degree on-time.
Applications are sent out to all eligible students at the university, and inductions take place in
the Spring term of every year. A student is not required to attend the induction service in order
to become a member. Once inducted, membership is good for a lifetime. To earn membership, a student
must complete the application, pay membership dues, and attend: 2 meetings, 1 social, and 1 service
community service or fundraising activity.
A one-time membership fee is charged to the student for membership. $20 of the fee goes
to the National Phi Eta Sigma organization. The rest of the fee pays for the needs of the local
University of Florida chapter. Included with membership is either a Phi Eta Sigma key or tie-tac,
along with a membership certificate.
If you would like to know any more information regarding eligibility for membership, you may visit the
official Phi Eta Sigma website.
If you have any other questions about eligibility, you may contact one of the
current officers of the club.
Mistakes can happen, and if you feel you deserve an invitation for membership but were not sent one,
please describe your situation.
