After a long application process, my husband and I were invited to serve in Peace Corps China. We arrived on a very hot night to a big city in western China to begin our Pre-Service training. Over the next 10 weeks, we were trained to speak Chinese for everyday tasks, to live in and interact with the dynamic environment of Chinese culture, and to teach English to Chinese college students. For me, my experiences in the Peace Corps thus far are very limited. I received my official invitation only a couple of months ago and have not yet left the United States for staging and training in Belize. Instead, for those interested, I will give you a little bit of insight on the months leading up to my invitation and also how I am preparing for my service (I leave in just under two weeks!)....read more
