September 20th, 2007

  1. Welcome and Introduction of Officers
    • For officer e-mail addresses, see home page.
    • Contact officers through e-mail with any questions.
  2. How to Stay a NSSLHA Member
    • Each member must attend at least 3 of the 4 meetings each semester.
    • For each activity, fundraiser, community service project, etc. you have the opportunity to earn points.
    • Service points are earned by attending fundraisers, events or volunteering to help, etc.
    • Donation points can be earned by donating $10 or bringing in items needed for events.
    • Each member must earn at least 3 service points and 2 donation points each semester to be considered an active member
  3. Upcoming Service Opportunities
    • One (1) service point can be earned by volunteering at Hope Lodge, on each of the following dates:
      • October 23rd
      • November 13th
      • December 11th
    • An e-mail will be sent out in order to coordinate rides if needed when the event comes closer.

  4. The G. Paul Moore Symposium Information
    • This year will be held February 14th and 15th at Emerson Alumni Hall.
    • Fundraising for the symposium includes the Pizza Hut fundraiser, on Wednesday, November 7th. This is an all day event that gives us a portion of the proceeds earned. You must bring a flyer with you, available here as a PDF, and here as a JPG.
    • Another fundraiser will take place at D'Lites on October 8th, or TBA.
  5. T-shirts
    • Last year's t-shirt (the pink shirt) can be purchased for $10. The previous year's t-shirt (the blue shirt) is also available for $10.
    • Please wear a NSSLHA t-shirt on the meeting days to help publicize the club and serve as a reminder of meeting days.
    • E-mail any t-shirt design ideas for this year to Shelley.
  6. Stride Against Silence
    • This is a 5k fundraiser to alleviate the post-operative costs for patients with cochlear implants.
    • The date is to be announced, but tentatively in March or April.
  7. Reading Program
    • This is a new community service project NSSLHA is undertaking to encourage reading for at-risk children at Terwilliger Elementary, a local public school.
    • More information will be given as it becomes available.

    • E-mail Dr. Rothman ASAP with any questions you have about NSSLHA or CSD for him to answer and post on a bulletin board outside of his office.

    • November 15th - Next NSSLHA Meeting 6:00pm in Little 101
  3. Big Sister/Little Sister Program
    • Join the mentorship program within our NSSLHA for newer students to get guidance from seniors.
    • To find out who your assigned Big Sisters/Little Sisters is, contact Kelsey Wallace.

November 15th, 2007

  1. Holiday Party at Dr. Rothman's
    • November 29th
    • One service or donation point (depending on what you need) for attending and one for bringing a Kosher food item
    • For address and directiosn, contact an officer.
  2. NSSLHA and Signing Gators Christmas Gifts
    • Christmas gift sign up for families in need. See the Facebook group for numbers and items.
  3. Point Opportunities!
    • Donating $10 to the Relay for Life team or $10 to NSSLHA.
  4. T-shirts have been ordered!

January 29th, 2008

  1. Remember to attend at least 3 of the 4 meetings each semester to be considered an active member.
  2. Each member must obtain at least 3 service poitns and 2 donation poitns each semester to be considered an active member.
  3. Spring Meeting Dates:
    • February 19th in Fine Arts B, Room 105, 6:00pm
    • March 25th in Fine Arts B, Room 105, 6:00pm
    • April's meeting will be a BBQ at Lake Wauburg; Date and time: TBA
  4. Elections for Officer/Chair Positions
    • The elections will be held in March.
    • You must be an active member to run.
    • E-mail the current officer with any questions.
  5. D'Lites Fundraiser
    • Monday, February 11th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
    • Earn one service point for attending.
  6. The G. Paul Moore Symposium
    • Will take place February 14th and 15th at Emerson Alumni Hall.
  7. Reading Program
    • This is a weekly service project we will be conducting at Terwilliger Elementary in the Head Start Program.
    • Earn one service point for participating.
  8. Autism Awareness 5K
    • Saturday, February 2nd, 8:00am - 11:00am
    • Westside Park, Gainesville
    • Hosted by Eastside High School S.T.A.R. (Students Together for Autism Research)
  9. Stride Against Silence
    • Sunday, April 13th, Time: TBA
    • Stride Against Silence is a 5k walk to raise money for hearing awareness and cochlear implants. We hope to have food, fun, and free hearing screenings for anyone who wants to come out.
    • More details will be forthcoming.
  10. The Christmas Present Drive
    • Thank you to everyone who purchased a Christmas present; the toy drive was a huge success!
