In the past years, the Gators have been declared national champions in both football and basketball. We have proven time and time again that when faced with a challenge, we stand alone as winners. Now our team is faced with a new battle...the battle against prematurity. Currently 1 in every 8 babies is born prematurely and the numbers are rising! Just like the UF athletes need your support as fans, we desperately need your help to fight and conquer this epidemic.
Gators March for Babies was established four years ago by the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at UF. Its purpose is to be a collegiate fundraiser for all students, alumni and staff to support the March of Dimes' effort to help all babies have a healthy and full term birth. In the past four years, Gators March for Babies has grown to over 1,000 yearly participants and has raised over $200,000 for the March of Dimes.
This year, Gators March for Babies will take place on Sunday, November 8th at 1 pm in Turlington Plaza at the University of Florida campus. Urban and Shelley Meyer are this year's honorary walk chairs. You can help future Gator Babies have the winning change for a healthy birth by simply raising money and walking or running the 5K walk.
