Given the opportunity to meet a variety of individuals who share similar career interests and also having the ability to shadow physicians in my prospective career, I have truly gained a tremendous amount of insight from this organization. As this year’s Vice-President, I hope to successfully aid in planning for both the Regional and National Conference and assist with making UF’s MAPS chapter more prominent and distinguished organization on campus and also with SNMA. |

Through my membership I have been able to be exposed to all health profession ventures, which has given me a great appreciation and respect for the variety health professions. As the treasurer, I hope to continue the success of M.A.P.S. through a business oriented mindset and financial stability. |

The Executive board members were not only mentors, but like but brothers and sisters whom helped me with any advice I needed concerning my pre-medical studies. To new and returning students at UF, if you are looking for an organization, craving to expose you to all pre-health related experiences as possible, while making great friends, the M.A.P.S. is the place for you! Responsibilities as Historian Obtains all permits for tabling and banners, organizes tabling for Public Relations (set duty), makes or updates the scrapbook and takes pictures at the events, updates the display board, put together an end of year banquet, and is in charge of a Historian Committee |

Lauderdale, FL Health Interests: Pre-med with a specialty in Cardiovascular Surgery Short Message: I got involved with M.A.P.S. late freshman year and realized that this organization was vital for any pre-health student. It provides countless activities and opportunities in various health care settings. My favorite activity through M.A.P.S. was participating in the Student National Medical Association’s National conference and I encourage any health care related students to attend. As your Internal Affairs Directors, I want to forge lifelong friendships. |

I also attended MAPS study nights and contributed to the Fall Research Forum, the Potluck Social, and the Spring Health fair. As a member, I felt like I had become a part of a family of people just like me, with the same dreams and aspirations. As your Academic Chair, I promise to do my best to help you achieve and maintain academic success throughout this upcoming year. Responsibilities of Academic Chair Maintains and/or updates test bank and book bank, present announcements of scholarships or programs MAPS members should take advantage of, organizes study groups, books study rooms for reading days, and is in charge of MAPS filing cabinet in the SG office on 3rd floor (when in use). Assists other e-board members with other activities. |

| MAPS Student organization liason Elaine Duran E-mail: eduran@ufl.edu Major:Biochemistry (Pre-med) Hometown:Miami, FL Health interests:Pediatrics specializing in neonatal care Short message:I can honestly say that being apart of M.A.P.S., I have encountered some great experiences that may have not never occurred if I wasn’t apart of this organization. What is most beneficial to me as a member is that you are surrounded with positive people with similar career interests. As the student organization liaison, I have the opportunity to reach out to other student organizations and at the meantime meet students who like my self who are determined to succeed at UF. Responsibilities of Student Organization Liaison and Public Relations Chair Make fliers for each meetings, events, advertise upcoming events (i.e. Channel 8), make a newsletter (at least once a semester), attend CLASSC meetings, represent MAPS and be in charge at events in which neither president or vice-president can attend, in charge of member recruitment, and has a Public Relations committee. |

Upon attending a meeting, the members of M.A.P.S. were very welcoming and the knowledgeable about the health professions. I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for the Health Fair 2009, because it showed me the dedication that MAPS had for the health professions and the desire members have to entire their perspective health-related field. As your Research Forum Director, I will strive to create a meaningful experience that educates and enlightens students about research. Responsibilities of Research Forum Directors Organize and orchestrate the research forum in the fall, keep members informed on different research opportunities, and is the head of the Research Forum Committee. |
