FUTURO: Focused Urban Teens United and Ready for Opportunity
Program Goals:
Pride, Scholarship, Community

Lambda Theta Alpha prides itself on its strong ethic for community service and philanthropic programming. The F.U.T.U.R.O. (Focused Urban Teens United and Ready for Opportunity) program is representative of the organization's focus on the future of our youth and the opportunities for their progress and growth. An outreach initiative for young teens, F.U.T.U.R.O. is designed to lead our youth to new horizons through educational workshops, character-building activities, and one-on-one mentoring. Mentors from our organization are asked to meet with middle/high school students twice a month to provide several workshops dealing with the issues that affect teens today. Among them may be The Importance of Self-Esteem, A College Life Experience, Prepping-Up- for a College Interview, Cultural Pride and Awareness and Giving Back To Your Community, to name a few. The students are encouraged to become involved in their local communities in an effort to teach them that they, too, can make a difference. By empowering the young generation, we are securing their future as leaders in our community. This program cultivates personal and academic growth, and it provides its participants with social and communication skills necessary to succeed in life. Lambda Theta Alpha feels it is imperative that we acknowledge, guide and support our FUTURO.

F.U.T.U.R.O. SCHOLARSHIP
F.U.T.U.R.O. provides young female teens with the opportunity to apply for a $1,000 scholarship, which is presented at the National Awards Dinner by Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. The scholarship will be awarded to the student who best embodies the spirit of F.U.T.U.R.O.

Chapter Philanthropy and Community Services

Lambda Theta Alpha, Latin Sorority Inc. has always been dedicated to the strengthening and unity of the community. Chi Chapter upholds this aspect of the organization to the fullest by continuous involvement in the Gainesville community and through numerous charitable activities.

The Annual Unity Jam was founded by Chi Chapter to unite organizations for the common goal of raising resources for a national/local philanthropy. The Unity Jam is a party hosted by Chi Chapter each year and co-sponsored by participating organizations. Proceeds from the event go toward Chi Chapter's Unity Jam Scholarship Fund.
