Ahn Byong-man, president of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and
Lim Hyung-kyu, CEO of Samsung Advanced Institute of
Technology, received 2005 Distinguished Alumnus Awards from the
University of Florida. Established in 1957, the awards are given
to alumni who have excelled in his or her chosen field. The
awards have been given to 281 recipients since its inception,
but it is first time for the Korean nationals to be given the
honor, and only two other foreign alumni have been given the
awards in its history. Ahn and Lim each received humanities and
science awards.
