Karl Vierck
5th Dan - Aikido
4th Dan - Karate; American Butokukan
Karl Vierk began his martial arts training
in 1987 at the age of 18 at the University of Florida under Tom McMorrow.
He recieved his black belt in American Butokukan Karate in 1990, and in
Aikido in 1992. Mr. Vierck holds 4th dan in karate and 5th dan in aikido.
He currently lives and works in St. Augustine, Florida, but makes regular
visits to Gainesville to teach Aikido at the UF Butokukan Club.
Dr. Adam Munson
2nd Dan - Karate; American Butokukan
2nd Dan - Aikido
Adam Munson began his training in the martial arts with the Butokukan Karate
Club at the University of Florida in 1988 at the age of 19. His instructor
there was Tom McMorrow. Dr. Munson has also trained in Wado Ryu and Manion's
Tae Kwon Do. He received his black belt in Karate in 1998. He currently holds
the rank of 2nd dan in American Butokukan Karate, which he received in 2000,
and the rank of 2nd dan in Aikido, which he received in December of 2007.
Dr. Munson recently recieved his Ph.D from the University of Florida, and lives
in Gainesville. He currently teaches classes on a regular basis at the University
of Florida Butokukan Karate Club.
Sarah Munson
2nd Dan - Karate; American Butokukan
2nd Dan - Aikido
Sarah Munson first began training in the martial arts at the University of
Florida with the Butokukan Karate Club, under the instruction of Tom McMorrow.
She began in 1994 at the age of 23, and received her black belt in December
of 1999. She now holds the rank of 2nd dan in Karate, which she received
in December of 2001, and the rank of 2nd dan in Aikido, which she received
in December of 2007. Mrs. Munson is a graduate of the University of Florida,
and currently teaches weekly classes at the University of Florida Butokukan
Karate Club.
Brad Petrino
2nd Dan - Karate; American Butokukan
2nd Dan - Aikido
Brad Petrino began his martial arts training at the age of 17 in 1997 at the
School of Chung Moo Doe in Altamonte Springs, FL. In the spring of 1999, at
the age of 18, he began training in Butokukan Karate at the University of Florida
under Thomas McMorrow. Mr. Petrino received his black belt in November of 2002,
and currently holds the rank of 2nd dan in Karate and 2nd dan in Aikido.
Mr. Petrino is a graduate of the University of Florida Levin
College of Law; he recently joined a law firm in Orlando and will not be
teaching at UF this semester.
Bob Johnson
1st Dan - Karate; American Butokukan
Bob Johnson began training with the UF Butokukan Club in 1983 when he
began graduate school in Electrical Engineering. He quit training in
1988 because of medical problems, and after a long absence, returned to
the club in the Fall of 2006. Mr. Johnson was awarded 1st Dan in
American Butokukan in the Fall of 2007 and teaches regularly at the
UF Butokukan Club.
Ernesto Abruña
1st Dan - Karate; American Butokukan
Ernesto Abruña began training with the UF Butokukan Club in 2002.
After completing his undergraduate education and earning a Bachelor's
Degree in Physics, Mr. Abruña continued training with American
Butokukan and was awarded 1st Dan in the Fall of 2007. He now lives in
Gainesville and continues to train and teach at the UF Butokukan Club.
