Welcome Back Alumni
Welcome back to the University of Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy! There are many exciting things happening at the Journal , and the current membership hopes that you will take the time to explore this website and reconnect with our publication.
During the past two years, the Journal has made the successful transition from two to three publications per year. This expansion was in direct response to the number of quality submissions requesting publication that the Journal was receiving. The Journal now publishes a fall, summer, and spring issue. However, there is more work to be done. Each semester the editorial board receives many more articles than they have room to print. This leaves the Journal in the unfortunate circumstance where quality articles must be rejected. To solve this problem, the editorial board has created a development plan for the Journal that will culminate in a move from three to four issues per calendar year. This move will allow the publication of more quality articles each year. Increased publication will then lead to more citations in legal opinions and other scholarly works.
Another major project the Journal has undertaken in the last year is making the initial move towards establishing an endowment fund to ensure the long-term future of the Journal . The current members of the Journal have made a concerted effort to reconnect with the over 300 alumni that contributed to the Journal during their law school careers. As part of this outreach effort, the Journal has sought to publish and mail two newsletters per semester to our alumni base. We hope that each alumni member will support our cause in the form of a financial donation earmarked for the endowment fund.
