What is ShadowFist?

Shadowfist is a Collectible Card Game based on Hong Kong action movies. The game can be either 2 player, or multi-player, although in our local play group, 5 or more players results in a really slow game. Emphasis is on Combat, Combat, and, did I mention, Combat.

The goal of the game is to be the first player to control 5 Feng Shui sites (Six in 2 player), focal points for Chi flow for various junctures. There are currently seven factions vying for control of the junctures-- Whoever controls the junctures can reshape reality to suit their purposes.

The Factions

Currently, the seven factions and their home junctures are:
  1. The Architects of the Flesh
These are from the 2056 juncture. They're basically a dictatorial, mad-scientist sort of bunch. Not only have they turned the entire planet into one huge Police State, they've started dabbling in Arcanowave technology, combining cybernetics with demons swiped from the past to create Abominations.
  2. The Ascended
The Ascended are a bunch of animals who got above themselves and transformed into humans centuries ago. They did this through magic, and should magic ever return, they're history. Through the now defunct 1200's juncture, they seized control of the present era, and eradicated magic.
  3. The Dragons
The Dragons are newcomers to the secret war. They're the underdog heros, fighting for truth, justice, and a lot of equal opportunity butt-kicking. They tend to be tough to kill, and harder to keep dead. They always pop back up at the last minute to annoy their enemies.
  4. Eaters of the Lotus
The Lotus are an organization of sorcerers and eunuchs from 69 A.D. China. Generally sneaky, devious, and underhanded (Well, so are most of the other factions) they specialize in magic, specifically the summoning and control of Demons.
  5. The Four Monarchs
For the last four hundred years or so, the world has been ruled by 4 siblings-- 2 brothers, 2 sisters-- who were set up to rule by their father. They killed him off, and divided the world into fourths, and ruled for centuries. What, you never heard of them? Not surprising-- The Ascended coup on the 1200's juncture wiped out magic, and therefore, the Monarchs woke up one day to our world. They took off for the Netherworld, and have been hiding out there since. They too are masters of magic, and if they ever stopped fighting among themselves, they'd probably be a major faction.
  6. The Guiding Hand
The Guiding Hand are an anti-tech, anti-magic group from China. They first became prevalent in the 1850's juncture, and have been working to restore the balance of the Feng Shui sites since. They specialize in Chi powers which they have developed so much that they seem to be magical.
  7. The Jammers
The Jammers are a bunch of nihilistic escaped lab monkeys. Well, more or less. The Architects were working on turning primates into soldiers. Some of these became highly intelligent, and escaped. Their leader is the BattleChimp Potempkin. The Jammers have learned of the secret war-- And they don't like it. They're out to destroy all the Feng Shui sites so that nobody controls them.
