Ray-Tracing Files
All of the raytracings on this page were done with POV-Ray 2.2
a very powerful copyrighted freeware raytracing package.
POV-Ray can be found at the Official POV-Ray
site, povray.org. Another good
site to check out is the
Ray-Tracing Home Page.
More information as I dredge it up and slap it in here.

Sphere Animation (MPEG - 160k)
-
A royal pain to trace, but looks cool. First effort in recent memory. I
think I did the animation out of stubbornosity. %) This is an MPEG, but it's
a very slow, MPEG. You might want to look at the QuickTime movie
instead.
-
Star (GIF - 108k)
-
Also a royal pain (Hey, glass is annoying, right?) but also very nice to
look at. The chances of this becoming animated are slim, unless I can get a
machine to do nothing but Ray-tracing on.
-
Temple (JPEG - 59k)
-
Ok, so the gemetric shapes are fun and everything, but I figured I should
try for something with some degree of realism in it... And Greek-like
architecture is EASY.
-
Cathedral? (JPEG - 68k) - So,
here I was one night, bored, having just decided I'd done all I could
on the Greek temple above, and made the mistake of asking Iago what I should do next,
and he suggested I do Lucifer's Cathedral for the Pandemonium home page.
It's not done yet, but I'm getting there.

Cathedral Inside (JPEG - 71k)
-
The nifty thing about Ray-Tracing, is that with a simple camera redefinition,
you can get the inside scoop, as it were. This image took forever to trace,
with the smoothing (anti-aliasing) turned on. Refractions take forever to
calculate. %)

Random Submersible (JPEG - 29k)
-
Recently, I finally broke down and downloaded POV-Ray 3.0; MANY
improvements over 2.2. So, of course, I had to practice. This is a
VERY incomplete image, but I thought I'd throw it up for now.
Eventually, I'll have it underwater, with a more detailed cockpit, a
more streamlined hatchway, and some lights. Sweeps have waaaay too
many triangles. :)

StoneHenge Preliminary
-
This is a work in progress; I've got a much more detailed drawing on
my home machine that I'm working on, but I put this here to show a
friend.

And of course, this chain was also done with POV-Ray.
I decided the old color bars that everyone around here seems to use
were boring. Besides, the chain fits in better with the Wolf motif
anyway. Well, maybe not... But it sounds good when I say it, so
there.
