What fraternities are about

Fraternities create a home away from home for their members. They help new students in their transition from high school or community college to the University of Florida. Fraternities also help students remain interested in staying in college.

Fraternity involvement provides the opportunity to meet new friends, learn what the University has to offer, learn about oneself, help others through service, and provide the resources to ensure your academic success. UF fraternities in the year 2007 offer the best way for students to truly become integrated in University life in a supportive academic and social environment. The University of Florida's Interfraternity Council oversees 26 fraternities. The fraternities draw their membership from a broad variety of backgrounds and offer many different activities. Each of the fraternities, while self governing, acts in partnership with the Interfraternity Council and the University.

The University of Florida has been recognized as having one of the strongest Interfraternity Councils in the southeast. In addition, UF's Greek Alcohol Policy has been promoted as a model for fraternity systems around the nation.
