Summary of Meeting:

= Builds
    - UF Habitat for Humanity apologizes to our volunteers due to the lack of builds so far in this semester. Good news! We should be actively back in November as there will be another project open up for us!
    - There will be a build in October 31st.
    - Andrei Kamalov would like to gauge your responses for the "We Build Together" Build in December 5. It will be a one-day project of fixing a damaged home for an elderly lady. You will be your work go into the house in this special one-day project!

= Silent Auction
    - October 31, online auction starts. Please tell your friends!
    - We will need people for tabling in November 4 (Wednesday). (This might be a date for the auction winners to collect their items?). If you have a period free, please come by to the Reitz Colonnade. We appreciate your help.

= Collegiate Challenge
    - Check out our Collegiate Challenge homepage at plaza.ufl.edu/aethuijs
    - Trips: New Orleans, Florida Keys, Biloxi and/or Bay St. Louis
    - If you would like to apply as a trip leader, please contact Annaliese
    - Applications are up in November 9 and they are due December 4

= Bike and Build
    - bikeandbuild.org
    - Bored this summer? You can be biking across the country and help build houses along the way!

= Social Event
    - Gelato Company
    - October 29, Thursday at 6-8pm
    - 20% of what you get will go back to the club!
    - If you think they only serve ice cream, guess again! They also serve lunches and dinners!

= Education Event
    - Can House
    - October 27th and 28th at 9am-3pm
    - Please come by the Reitz Colonnade as we will need volunteers for tabling
    - FREE drinks will be provided - and those cans will go to good use on the Can House!

    - Another event: Reverse Trick or Treat
    - Dress up and give out candies to kids!
    - October 30th, Friday at 5-7pm
    - Carpooling will be available
    - Habit-Fact: "Many people think Habitat Houses reduce property values. According to US & Canada studies, affordable housing has no adverse effect on other neighborhood property values. In fact, Habitat houses have increased property values and local government tax income."

   - Super Skate Station Sensation!
   - Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:30pm
   - Across from Newberry Mall
   - FREE!!!

= Bike n' Build
   - Bikeandbuild.org
   - Bike across the US along various routes, from east coast to west coast!
   - Around $4000 for the trip and you get a free bike for going!

= Can House
   - October 27th and 28th at 10am - 3pm
   - Build house on recycled cans!
   - Our goal is to spread attention and information about Habitat for Humanity
   - Please come by and bring cans - must be empty and please not alcoholic cans
   - Habit-Fact: "Almost 12% of the population live below the poverty line. 40% of them are children."

At this meeting we signed up for builds for the upcoming two weekends at Ocala, and for the Hotdog and Carwash fundraiser Saturday September 26. If you are interested in volunteering at either of these contact Andrei, VP of Building. We also discussed the upcoming Silent Auction fundraiser. Volunteers are need to help solicit for the event. If interested please contact Scott, Fundraising Chair.

The first UF Habitat meeting of the year!

At this meeting we signed up for the first builds and discussed all of the exciting fundraisers, socials, and educational events scheduled for the year.
