"Message from the President"
Hello New Students,
We are trying to arrange for PICKUP and Accommodation for all of you those have entered such requests with IGSA......
Some facts and figures...
Number of New Students requesting pickups—280
Number of New Students requesting accommodation – 250
Number of pickup volunteers - 45 (not everyone can pick students during day time (9am - 5pm) as they have college)
Number of accommodation volunteers – 75
So you do the math................
So if your flights get delayed and you don't inform us right away and wait for your own sweet time it gets difficult for these volunteers to go back to airport again if they already made their trip.....
Even if your flight was on time (or you informed about the fight delay) the volunteer may not be able to pick you up at the alternate time (or if they had any last minute meetings or sudden changes in their schedule--- remember they are volunteering, you cannot force them to do this)......
IGSA will try to make some arrangements......
Just in case no one shows up to pick you for like 25-30 minutes then our suggestion would be to make a call to one of us or the best would be to take a Taxi and reach the accommodation place assigned to you.
SO BE READY TO SHELL OUT $ 20-25 for the TAXI.......
Like we said, we will try our best, but we can only do so much depending on our resources............
Last Year IGSA picked up and gave temporary accommodation to more than 250 students ....unfortunately not even half of them volunteer to repay that kindness that they enjoyed just a year ago.... all have some or the other sweet excuse.......
Hopefully you guys realize this and this scenario changes next year..........
