"The mission of the Gator Guard is to provide an effective leadership and teamwork framework through which select members of the Army R.O.T.C. program can broaden their military background in preparation for the acceptance of a commission. It represents the University of Florida in both university and civic functions and enhances the prestige of the university through favorable publicity received from these performances."

What does that all mean? Simple. The Gator Guard provides its cadet and civilian members with an opportunity to develop leadership skills early and practice them often in their college career through training and hands-on experience in both military and real-world situations.

The Gator Guard is open to anyone (Civillian or ROTC) who has a willingness to learn, regardless of experience with any kind of drill.
