Article I. Name of Organization
The name of this organization is Gator Cricket Club. This organization
will utilize the acronym GCC in all publicity materials and correspondence.
Article II. Purpose
The purpose of GCC is to introduce cricket to the UF campus. This club
will teach new players how to play the game and understand the rules
of the game. We aim to introduce cricket to the UF sports culture by
holding practice and game sessions weekly and inviting everyone with
an interest to play and participate. We want to spread cricket by expanding
these sessions into intramural and club cricket so we can compete with
other cricket clubs.
Article III. Compliance Statement
Upon approval by the Center for Student Activities and Involvement,
Gator Cricket Club shall be a registered student organization at the
University of Florida. Gator Cricket Club shall comply with all local,
state and federal laws, as well as all University of Florida regulations,
policies, and procedures. Such compliance includes but is not limited
to the University’s regulations related to Non-Discrimination,
Hazing, Commercial Activity, and Student Leader Eligibility.
Article IV. Non-Discrimination
In compliance with the University of Florida Non-Discrimination Policy
(Regulation 6C1-1.006), Gator Cricket Club will not discriminate on
the basis of race, creed, color, religion, age, disability, sex, sexual
orientation, marital status, national origin, political opinions or
affiliations, and veteran status as protected under the Vietnam Era
Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act.
Article V. Membership
Membership in this organization is open to enrolled students at the
University of Florida. Non-students, spouses, faculty, and staff may
be associate members; however, they may not vote or hold office. All
members and associate members are free to leave and disassociate without
fear of retribution, retaliation, or harassment.
Finance: GCC, as of yet, has no local, state or national
affiliations and thus, no fees to such organizations/chapters are due.
Further, GCC does not charge dues to its members and is non-commercial
in nature.
Article VI. Officers
Section A. The elected officer positions are: President, Vice-President,
Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Relations Officer.
Part 1. The President must preside over the organization, making sure
all officers and directors are acting appropriately and to the benefit
of the club and supervise events and meetings.
Part 2. The Vice-President must take charge in case the President is
not available, run meetings and manage the equipment.
Part 3. The Secretary must take the minutes of meetings, send out reminders
of events and meetings and help run the meeting.
Part 4. The Treasurer must take up all financial obligations, take care
of the budget and supervise fundraising activities.
Part 5.The Public Relations Officer must supervise all advertising for
any events, meetings, etc.
Section B. Officers shall assume their official duties at the
close of the last general meeting of the academic year and shall serve
for a term of one academic year and/or until their successors are elected/appointed.
Section C. Any officer of Gator Cricket Club may be removed from office
through the following process:
Part 1. At least five voting members or any two officers of GCC must
submit a written request for the removal of the officer to the officers.
The officer in question must be present at the next meeting to respond
to the removal question.
Part 2. A two-thirds majority by hand-vote of members present is necessary
to remove the officer.
Part 3. Upon removal of an officer, the remaining officers are granted
a special provision to appoint an interim replacement until elections
are held.
Article VII. Elections
Nominations for officers will take place annually from the members at
the last general meeting in February. Any member may nominate any other
voting member, including themselves. Voting by secret ballot will occur
and a majority vote is required to be elected. Officers may be reelected
multiple times. Any member is eligible to be an officer.
Article VIII. Faculty Advisor
The duties of the Faculty Advisor are: mentor the officers and members
of GCC and supervise the officers and any events and meetings that take
place. The Faculty Advisor should also attend meetings and events, but
cannot vote in elections. The Faculty Advisor will be chosen by GCC’s
officers based on experience and interest.
Article IX. Finance
GCC, as of yet, has no local, state or national affiliations and thus,
no fees to such organizations/chapters are due. Further, GCC does not
charge dues to its members and is non-commercial in nature. However,
further costs of t-shirts and travel must be paid by members and members
are also expected to participate in fundraising and charity events.
Article X. Dissolution of Organization
In the event that GCC dissolves, all monies left in the treasury, after
outstanding debts and claims have been paid, shall be donated to local
Gainesville charities.
Article XI. Amendments to Constitution
This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of Gator Leaders
by a two thirds vote of the members present and voting, provided that
notice of the proposed amendment was given at the previous meeting and
that the proposed amendment shall be subject to approval of the Center
for Student Activities and Involvement.
