The UF
International FolkDance Club started as a
student club. Now called GAINESVILLE INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCERS, it offers
cultural awareness, good exercise, and international fellowship
through instruction, practice, and performance of authentic traditional
folk dances from all around the world. We can look as silly as the stick
figures above or as skillful as our performance
group. Come see with your eyes why 'folkdance is a turn for better'!
(and in top10).

What's
a typical meeting like?
Fun! Excitement!
A typical meeting is anything but typical! All-in-all it is a lot
of fun with wonderful people. Meetings are broken up into three periods:
Teaching: For
the first hour of our Friday meeting, dances are taught (and we really
mean taught).
Break time-circle time:
THEN
a group meeting is held: we introduce the members present in the circle
and make (mostly) dance related announcements;
Requests: The
remaining time is spent dancing all time favorites or newly taught
dances.
