Justin Knust
Men's Varisty Coach, Head Coach
Rowing Experience:

Justin began rowing in 1998 for the Orlando Area Rowing Society (O.A.R.S.). The following year he captained the OARS state-championship heavyweight boat. At UF he rowed for one season before injuring his knee in 2002. Soon after Justin began coaching the novice women’s team. By 2005 he was promoted to head coach.
Today Justin coaches the men’s varsity program. His latest successes include a second place finish in the Heavyweight 8 and a first place finish in the Heavyweight 4 divisions at Head of the Hooch in 2006. Justin has been the catalyst for the growth of Florida Crew. The team has flourished under his watch, growing in size and earning an impressive reputation throughout the state. "It's an exiting time to be at Florida," Justin says, "we are constantly expanding and improving. I expect great things in the coming seasons."
Raf Crowley
Women's Varsity Coach

Raf began rowing as a freshman for Bucknell University in 2000. He rowed for three seasons with the Bison before coming to UF to pursue a Ph.D. in Coastal Engineering. In 2005 he rowed one season with the Varsity Men's team before coaching the novice women last fall. Raf quickly proved his coaching ability. His girls attained impressive finishes at nearly every spring event.
This coming season Raf will coach the Women’s varsity team. He brings years of experience to the table, and the girls are very excited to continue their rowing careers with him.
Montia Rice
Men's Novice Coach
Rowing Experience:

Montia began his rowing career in South Jersey at the prestigious St. Augustine Preparatory School in 1998. After graduating he was then recruited for Jacksonville University, where he rowed all four years. During his time at JU he won many titles including but not limited to: Gold at FIRAS, Gold at SIRAS, and medaled at Dad Vail’s. He was also named captain of the Varsity Men’s team for two years. While he was in college he also attended Penn Athletic Rowing Club during the summer.
Montia has coached at St. Augustine Prep, Viking Rowing Club, and Jacksonville University. His first year coaching at JU his novice men won FIRAS, and made it to the finals at SIRAS. Since moving to Gainesville he has be named the Men’s Novice Coach and is anticipating a great season.
Brian Scanlon
Women's Novice Coach

Brian Scanlon began rowing at Winter Park High School in 2002. After coming to UF he quickly jumped from rowing to coaching. In 2004 he headed up the men’s novice program. After a brief hiatus from the team Brian returned to coach the women’s novice team last spring.
Continuing on their already impressive run, Brian coached the girls to a first-place finish at FIRA and an A-final at SIRA. He returns this season for a second tour as women’s novice coach. He's enthusiastic and looks forward to continuing success in the women’s program. |
