  • "LACY" - Black Labador

Previous to "Billy" Bandit, the previous pet in my life was another AKC registered Black Laborador whose name was "LACY". Lacy as a 'gift' to my family after her previous / original owner took the pick of her litter to train to be a water retriving bird dog. Lacy had originally been purchased for training to retrive birds but all the hunting that she liked was for fishes around the lake werec she lived. Dispite her age Lacy loved to go swimming; and often would swim in lakes in lakes in the area dispite artheric hip problems. In her 'senior' years I would often have to pick her up and place her on the rear car seat after swimming. Lacy's ashes were placed at my father's feet; the later having died in 1979 at the age of fifty-five (55) years and one day as result of a series of heart attacks.

  • "JUNIOR" - Dalmation With A 'Whip' Like Tail

In my youth during the period when I lived on the La Romana Sugar Mill (Dominican Republic), I can still remember a dalmation who had a 'strong' tail. This particualr dog "JUNIOR" had a 'whip' like tail. Once in a state of excitment, the tail hit the glass of a fish aquarium with such force that it shattered. Occasionally the bill from the pool / club; located diagonally across the road would have one or more hamberburgers attributed to Junior; who had helpped himself to a snack of a guest's unattended meal. Once Junior who would sleep on the back seat in my father's company jeep; surprised my father early one morning as the latter as he drove to an emergency at the sugar mill. Once my father arrived at the emergency, Junior returned to sleep on the back seat awaitting my father's return. Junior had to be 'euthenised' after breaking a leg jumping out of a truck which at the time had not competely stopped.

  • Horse - 'Reverse' Economy

In my youth while my father was employed at the La Romana Sugar mill; Dominican Republic, I had a horse. The cost for pasture services; company owned whose primary purpose was cattle protection, was reported to have been one-dollar ($1.) a month. Beef was classified in two catagories; steaks and 'the rest'. At birthday parties the treat was to eat imported hot dogs ($5.00 / 16 ounce 10 unit package) over steaks which were a dollar ($1.00) a pound.
