Facility Use and Practice Schedules

About Practices

In order to accommodate the various skill levels and goals of the club's membership, practice times are divided to suite those needs. Practice is normally held in the Florida Gym (FLG), to which a valid Gator-1 ID is required for entry. During the Summer B term, practice will be on the main floor of the Student Rec & Fitness Center (SRFC). In the fall/spring semesters, recreational and novice practices are temporally partitioned from veteran practices in the Florida Gym. In the summer they are not. If you need directions to the practice facilities, please visit the UF Campus Map.

Recreational fencers may use their facility time as they wish. Equipment is available for bouting and practice drills. Protective clothing must be worn and equipment must be used in a safe and proper manner. Anyone found inappropriately using equipment will be asked to leave for the safety of others.

Competitive practice aims to train members to succeed at national and intercollegiate tournaments. Practice consists of drills to improve technical skills, footwork to increase mobility, and bouting to apply techniques and strategies. Competitive practices are exclusive to those who meet the requirements of active competitive status.
