well, anyway, i was going to tell you about what happened last fall. fall
is the worst time of year for me, most of the really terrible pollens and
irritants are present then. last fall, as usual, i was suffering with
terrible headaches every day, and i was beginning to build up a resistance
to aspirins and other pain relievers. one night i got tired of the headaches
and drove down to the pharmacy. i was looking around the cold and flu section
when i noticed a nasal spray that said it contained anti-inflammatory along
with a decongestant. what luck. i didn't even know anything like this existed,
or i would have certainly picked up a bottle of it years ago. anyway, i came
home and opened the package, and after screwing the nozzle onto the bottle
i stuck it up my right nostril puffing two squirts up there. i did the same
to my left nostril. it felt a little strange and tickled quite a bit, but i
figured the uncomfort was worth it.
the back of the box the spray came in said that it took ten to fifteen
minutes for the product to work. i went to the living room and turned on the
t.v. abotu ten minutes later i felt this little hiss or buzz tickling inside
my nose. then i could hear it. it was getting louder, and i felt this glob
of snot and water beginning to build at the top of my nose. i grabbed a
tissue and ran to the bathroom. i blew my nose and the largest ball of
fluid ever seen popped out of my nose followed by a loud, hissing rush of
air. my headache was gone. what a miracle. this thing actually worked.
i went over to the mirror to make sure i didn't get any snot on me. and when
i looked at myself i noticed my head was flattened. no, actually it was
more concaved in right between my eyes. like a young girl's plastic doll
head dented by her older brother's fist. how odd, i thought. i felt over
the dent and couldn't feel anything broken or otherwise wrong, and i felt
no pain. i mean, the headache was gone, the snot was gone, and for the
first time in a number of years i felt wonderful. i didn't know what to do,
but i knew i didn't want a doctor to fill my head back up with snot or
