rhinitis
justin barrett
it all began as a mistake.
i was born.
it wasn't all that bad, really. and it wans't so much a mistake as just some
bad misfortune at birth. i was born, as i said earlier; but with really bad
allergies. and an acute case of rhinitis developed as a result of these allergies.
this means my sinuses are filled witha thick snotty fluid. everybody's sinuses
are filled with fluid, but my fluid is thicker and more viscous. the allergies
cause this. they also cause inflammation of the tissues around the sinus,
effectively sealing the sinuses off. most are allowed to drain when neccessary
and therefore are pretty much ignored. in my case, however, the fluid in my
sinuses are cut-off from draining and can't be ignored. especially the major
sinus behind my right eyes, above and behind the bridge of the nose. the
high pressure associated with inclement weather sometimes forces the fluid
from surrounding cavities and channels to drain or push into the major
sinus. this causes extreme and horribly painful headaches.
i can't feel the fluid in my sinuses, but i think it would be pretty neat to
be able to feel it sloshing around my head when i move. but i know it's there,
because every so often, on relaly good days, a little of the sweeling will
go down and a few drops of the fluid will collect in my nose. it's pretty
gross to think this kind of stuff is flaoting around in my head.
