This amendment may demonstrate to some folks around the state and around the country that the office of the governor of Florida is a very prestigious and honorable office and is certainly deserving of an honorary degree.
~ Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami (via "UF college could be named for Jeb Bush")
Repeat after me: The office of the governor cannot receive a degree.
You know, because IT'S NOT A PERSON.
State legislators: maybe you could focus on real issues instead of spitting in the faces of a hundred or so professors?
It says a lot about U.S. News and higher education in general that we are willing to play dead most of the time just so this magazine can sell the one issue a year that makes a lot of money.
~ Michele Tolela Myers, President of Sarah Lawrence College (via "Would U.S. News Make Up Fake Data?")
I'm almost done with undergraduate studies! I have two final exams - one on Thursday and one on Friday - and that's it! I'm not excited about having a final exam at 7:30 am on the day of graduation (which also happens to be my birthday).
I'm not sure if I will be allowed to keep my Grove account after I graduate. Since I'll be an employee, I hope they will let me, but the GatorLink site says "some staff", so I'm not sure.
Well, I always thought Wednesday Update walked the line between useful email and spam, but SpamAssassin is less forgiving than me.

This shows what I've been working on for the past day. The graphical specification is only a diagram. The actual circuit was specified completely in VHDL. I. Hate. My. Life.
The VHDL is referred to as a "structural specification", meaning it would be much easier to specify using the graphical editor. Since I also had to produce the diagram using the graphical editor, I'm a little pissed about the 300-line VHDL shitbrick I had to write.
I know the page is getting really big. I've not had the time to work on my site much, so please get broadband if you don't already have it. ;-)
Wednesday Updates are annoying, but there's one item from today's email that I don't mind so much:
4. LITTER ON CAMPUS: We've been getting many complaints from students about litter from advertising including ads from bars in their classrooms, their residence halls and on the campus grounds. Some businesses employ students to distribute their ads... Did you know that as a student advertising anything... your student group's activities or a local business, you're required to follow UF guidelines on distributing printed material? Those guidelines ONLY allow you to hand ads/flyers to others on a one-on-one basis and ONLY outside UF buildings. You may not leave piles of flyers around, throw them on the ground, seats or floors, or place on car windshields. Littering the campus, chalking walls and sidewalks, hanging flyers on walls and trees are all against the UF rules and the Student Conduct Code. If you are doing any of these activities, you could find yourself facing Judicial charges. If you see anyone doing this, you have the right to tell them to stop... It's YOUR campus! Help us all keep your campus clean and a place to be proud of... only distribute printed materials as allowed by UF rules: Distribution of Printed Material: http://www.aa.ufl.edu/aa/Rules/4006.htm. Commercial access to campus: http://www.aa.ufl.edu/aa/Rules/2003.htm. For further information, contact LB@union.ufl.edu.
Next time you see someone throwing flyers on the ground, do like they say: tell them to stop.
I need an 87% on my COP 3530 final for an A, assuming no extra credit (other than what was given on the homework assignments). It should be doable, but man ... I'm worried.
Summer classes - CIS3020 and PHY2049. Summer work - Web Admin and possibly Acceleration. Crazy.
Anyone have some extra brain cells they wouldn't mind donating - in my efforts to understand Calculus III, I seem to have misplaced some. :-(
Currently, the only other thing I have here is a mirror of my CGS 3063 homepage from the fall semester of 2000. Take a look if you want.
