History of D.S.A

In fall of 2000, Uschi Pimentel transferred to the University of Florida, in hopes of finding a group of people with a similar Dominican heritage. After attending an assembly put on by the Hispanic Student Association, she noticed that a Dominican organization was missing from the many other Latino organizations, so she took it upon herself to create and encourage fellow Dominicans to come together and form an organization. The Dominican Student Association was thus founded on December 27, 2000 at the Univeristy of Florida. The organization began as a way for the Dominican students at the University of Florida to come together and socialize. The group has evolved not only as an organization to socialize but also to encourage diversity amongst its members and promote the Dominican culture by activities on campus and the community.
