I just heard from April and here are the results from the second
half of the AFA District Qualifier Tournament in Clemson, SC.
Eric - 2nd DI, 6th Poetry
Toya - 1st EXT, 4th INFO
Colin - 2nd IMP
April - 4th CA
3rd Place Swing Sweeps.
It is a great pleasure for me to announce these accomplishments.
With just 4 people, we took 3rd place swing sweeps! That alone is
a huge accomplishment!
Mad props to Colin for making a huge break through in a
competitive Impromptu round.
Also, make sure to give Eric a huge pat on the back for showing
District 6, the AFA's most competitive interp district, that UF
Interp is a force to be reckoned with.
As always, Toya and April sustained the squad with their veteran
experience and know-how.
Congratulations, Team! We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

VALDOSTA, Ga.--The University of Florida parli squad dominated this
weekend's tournament at Valdosta State University, closing its first
fall competition with nine of 12 possible wins and several speaker
awards.
Dan and Yaniv were the No. 1 team, going 5-1 for the best record in
the tournament, with Yaniv taking the top speaker award and Dan taking
second place.
Adrian and Raju won the No. 2 distinction at 4-2, with speaker points
beating a tied South Carolina team. Raju won the fourth speaker award.
Adrian placed sixth in speaks.
Erik, in his first tournament as parli coach, prepped the top two
teams in the tournament, earning him a so-far flawless coaching
record.
Tournament debaters said they were pleased with judges, who often
stayed for post-round critiques.
VSU Coach Mike Eaves hosted the competion briskly and ahead of
schedule, allowing for a long lunch and early departure. Friday night,
he suggested a cozy Greek-Italian restaurant, Giulio's, which stayed
open exclusively for competitors and tournament staff.
Later this month, UF's parli team will head to Appalachian State
University for a follow-up to its smoothly started 2004-2005 season.

Hi all,
Despite the fact that we had to leave after the first tournament to

With only five competitors we came in 3rd overall, which was pretty amazing!
We would have definitely kicked butt in the second half but we had to beat
the storm home...thanks Jeanne.
Congrats to all and be safe this weekend!

Hey all! I heard from Frank earlier in the day with news from Vegas.
Morgan and Vince went 3-4 in a very tough round robin. They did pick up
rounds against some impressive teams including Gonzaga. Not a bad showing
for a newly formed team with one debater who hasn't been in a round in
quite some time. They're all having about the same luck and learning curve
in the casinos too...not much up or down! They'll be back in G'ville
tomorrow morning.--K
