Welcome
to the University of Florida Speech and Debate Team's web page. Here we have compiled
a few interesting tidbits about the team as well as some basic resources for forensics
competitors. The University of Florida competes at national, state, and regional
tournaments in Policy Debate, Parliamentary Debate, and eleven Individual Event
categories: Extemporaneous, Impromptu, Persuasive, Informative, After Dinner Speaking,
Communication Analysis, Duo, Prose, Poetry, Dramatic, and Program Oral Interpretation.
By clicking on the links at the top of the page, you can access various parts
of our squad, as well as learn about some team history, our travel schedule, current
members, and about the annual Gator Invitational Tournament. If you want more
details about the operation of the team, check out the U.F.
Speech and Debate Team Constitution. For more information, feel free to come
by our office at 413 Rolfs Hall, or contact our head coach, Kellie Roberts, at (352)
392-5421 ext. 22.
The UF Speech and Debate Team is funded by the
University of Florida Student Government.
The UF Student Government has shown a strong commitment to student organizations like Speech and Debate, providing 100% of our travel funding.
Additionally, the William and
Grace Dial Center for Written and Oral Communication provides numerous resources
to the team. The Center pays the salary of the Director of Forensics as well
as the graduate assistant coaches and provides office space, telephones, computers,
and a copy machine.
