Join Us

Team Florida welcomes all current students and faculty of the University of Florida to become a member of our “team”. We are a recognized member of UF’s Sports Clubs which is funded by Student Government. Membership to the club is free to anyone interested, and we welcome visitors to sit in on our weekly meetings every Tuesday night at 9:15pm in the Weil Hall room 234 (across Stadium from the stadium).

Team Florida offers members the opportunity to compete in inter-collegiate events throughout the Southeast with cycling disciplines ranging from classic road races, individual time trials, cross-country mountain bike races, to dual slalom and downhill events. At any collegiate cycling events, there are classes for beginners through experts, so there is no need to feel intimidated about bicycle racing. We have our own cycling coach who provides the team with training information and how-to’s, as well as having Exercise and Sports Science graduate students come to speak regularly at meetings about nutrition and hydration needs as a competitive cyclist.

What is helpful to have when considering joining us:

  • A good attitude!
  • Your UF ID
  • A filled-out sports club waiver
  • Helmet (a must on all Team Florida rides)
  • Working bicycle, either a road bike or mountain bike
(**Don’t go out and buy a bike just to join the team, as many of our members have slightly used ones that you can pick up for a good deal. Come to a meeting and ask around first.)
  • Patience

If you’d like to learn more or have questions that haven’t been answered here, please email Ryan Fisher for MTB inquiries, and Amanda Tosh for road racing inquiries. If you have any other questions please email one of the officers on the members page. Finally, if there are any questions and concerns about the current Team Florida web page please email Mike Sanford.

Good Luck, and we hope to see you on the road or on the trails.
