Career Highlights
- 1989: Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 1st round.
- 1990: Minor league Player of the Year in AA Birmingham.
- 1991: Batted .318 with 32 HR and 109 RBI in his first full
season.
- 1992: His HR dropped to 24, but he batted .323, drove in 115 runs
and had 46 2B.
- 1993: Became the 10th player in history and first player since Jose
Canseco (1988) to be unanimously voted MVP. Hit a career high 41 HR and
128 RBI, while batting .317.
- 1994: Won his 2nd consecutive MVP award and became the 11th player
in AL history to win more than one MVP. In the strike shortened season,
he almost won a triple crown- finishing with 38 HR, 111 RBI, and a .353
batting average in only 113 games.
- 1995: Hit 40 HR, reaching that plateau for the second time in his
career and drove in 111 runs, becoming the first player in ML history to
get 100 RBI and 100 BB in 5 consecutive seasons. He also batted over
.300 for the 5th straight season (.308).
