Fiedler scrambles for win in Miami

With just seconds remaining in the Dolphin home opener against the Oakland Raiders, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year, Jay Fiedler scrambled two yards, diving for the game winning TD. With no on open, Fiedler ran towards the endzone, dove, and stretched out the ball over the goal line before his knees hit down with 5 seconds to play. The Dolphins made the two point conversion to get the 18-15 win and improve to 2-0 on the season. The Dolphins easly defeated Tennessee in their season opener in week 1. Fiedler overcame two interceptions, including one that was returned for a TD, giving the Raiders the 15-10 lead, and lead the Dolphins in a 10 play, 80 yard drive in the final two minutes of the game. The Dolphins improved to 28-4 in home openers since 1970. Miami's defense continuted to show its strength, as it kept the Oakland offense out of the endzone and limited them to 3 FGs. Oakland's Jerry Rice made only one catch for 7 yards, but extended his record streak to 226 consecutive games with a catch. Oakland dropped to 1-1. Surprisingly, the Minnesota Vikings lost to Chicago and dropped to 0-2 along with Tennessee. Just as surprisingly, led by Doug Flutie, San Diego won to go 2-0, one more win than they had all of last season. The Dolphins visit reigning MVP Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner, and the 2-0 St. Louis Rams next week in a battle of one of the best offenses in the NFL against one of its best defenses.
