What is Collegiate 4-H?
Collegiate 4-H is an organization on the collegiate level for students to join together to serve their community, have the opportunity to lead their peers, discuss youth development, rural and urban life, agricultural, political, and other important questions, as well as bridging the gap between youth and adults (extension staff and volunteer leaders). This gives students the opportunity to mentor 4-H members. Collegiate 4-H is open to all majors and no prior experience with 4-H is necessary.
The purpose of this not-for profit organization shall be to provide the students of the University of Florida that are interested in 4-H a sense of identity on campus and for opportunities to enrich their lives through group projects, youth-adult partnerships, community service, and recreation while also developing leadership skills.
Collegiate 4-H is a club serving the UF campus, local 4-H, and the world as a whole. Our projects focus on being a strong and involved campus organization. We take part in campus-wide movements and charity events including the ALCSS Cowboy Ball Canned Food Drive and the Alpha Gamma Rho Buck Off. We strive to build a close relationship with Alachua County 4-H and surronding counties by helping in any way we can. We built connections with the Florida Southern Collegiate 4-H Club and will assist them in becoming a stornger club while helping to plan events. We will attend the National 4-H Conference to promote UF Collegiate 4-H, share our ideas and experiences with other Collegiate 4-Hers, and strengthen our own members and club.
Our activities may seem local, but we hope to soon have a larger impact on Collgiate 4-H, Florida 4-H, and the University of Florida.
